OECD becomes EduWel partner

EduWel-OECD cooperation meeting in Brussels

Insights into OECD Directorate Employment, Labour and Social Affairs (ELSA)

OECDDr. Alessandro Goglio gave an overview on the work of the ELSA Directorate and introduced recent highly interesting OECD publications relevant to our EduWel project, particularly Divided We Stand: Why Inequality Keeps Rising and the OECD Unemployment Outlook. One interesting issue for the EduWel researchers is the interaction between education and inequality. Here they critically discussed the role of education and up-skilling as solution for tackling the challenges of the current crisis and arising inequalities. What is that we know better about this interaction? But also, where is the literature still relatively inconclusive on this important matter? What do these gaps suggest for further policy works going forward? These and many other questions based on the challenging OECD projects provided an interesting “case study” which allowed an intensive discussion.

After the EduWel project: How to approach an international organisation?

Some insights into the working field of an international organisation: Alessandro provided some views about how to reach out to an international organisation, based on his example and his way into the OECD. He encouraged our ESRs to approach the OECD via the OECD Young Professionals Programme.

EduWel and OECD together: Last but not least the group discussed common interests and possible EduWel/ELSA workshops and activities in 2013. Based on a common partnership agreement EduWel ESRs will be invited for internships and international workshops and will have the opportunity to organise thematic workshops in cooperation with the OECD.
